Elijah Spencer has been electrifying in his first two years at the collegiate level with the Charlotte 49ers. After two years, Spencer entered the NCAA transfer portal to bring his talents to a Power 5 program and will play for the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
As a true freshman in 2021, Spencer caught 28 receptions for 381 yards and 6 touchdowns. He was named C-USA Freshman of the Year that season. This season, Spencer caught 57 receptions for 943 yards and 9 touchdowns. He was named an honorable mention by the C-USA this season.

Spencer was a former 3-star high school prospect in the 2021 recruiting class from Irmo, South Carolina. He was the 221st-rated wide receiver and the 26th prospect from the state of South Carolina, according to 247Sports Composite.
He had 5 offers to play division one collegiate football that included Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Eastern Michigan, Georgia Southern, and Kent State. Now, Spencer has translated his work on the field into a shot in the Power 5.
Spencer is the third player to commit to Minnesota from the NCAA transfer portal.
