Ohio State is gearing up for the College Football Playoff, and more members of the freshman class for the Buckeyes are shedding their stripes.

Early Tuesday, Ohio State confirmed that freshman linebacker Gabe Powers and freshman wide receiver Caleb Burton shed their black stripes to become full-fledged members of the Buckeyes. Both players were 4-star recruits out of high school.

With Ohio sports betting coming at the end of the month, you can pre-register today and get hundreds of dollars in bets to use on the Buckeyes, NFL games and other sports:

Listed at 6-foot-4 and 230 lbs., Powers came to Columbus as a 4-star LB and the No. 5 in-state player for Ohio and the No. 8 LB nationally in the class of 2022. He has not registered any stats during his freshman campaign.

Burton is listed as a 6-foot and 165 lb. WR out of Austin, Texas. He was rated as the No. 21 WR in the country and No. 22 overall prospect out of Texas for the cycle.

While key roles for Powers and Burton did not materialize out of the gate, both look to have a big future with the Buckeyes. We’ll see if either makes a play in the CFP matchup against Georgia.
