There are some new faces in B1G basketball this season. BTN’s Andy Katz ranked his top 5 newcomers on Tuesday.

Plenty of newcomers to the B1G have made their mark on the conference so far. Terrence Shannon Jr., Brice Sensabaugh, Fletcher Loyer, Jahmir Young, and Jett Howard all made Katz’s list in that order. The players are either freshman or transferred in from another program.

Shannon transferred to Illinois from Texas Tech this offseason and is averaging 17.8 points per game. The Fighting Illini have really loved Shannon’s scoring boost.

Sensabaugh is one of the three players on the list that is a freshman. Sensabaugh has averaged 14.9 points per game for Ohio State so far.

Loyer is really embracing his role with Purdue. Loyer has given the Boilermakers a solid scoring output of 13.2 points per game.

As the only other transfer on the list, Young came in at No. 4. Young joined first year Maryland coach Kevin Willard after transferring in from Charlotte. Young picked up right where he left off and is averaging 14.5 points each outing.

Last but not least is Jett Howard. To no one’s surprise Jett joined his father Juwan at Michigan. Juwan’s coaching is paying off as Jett is recording 15.5 points each game in 2022.

Do you agree with Katz’s list?
