Nebraska just added the Oklahoma high school linebacker Eric Fields, a 3-star recruit, adding some much-needed talent for newly hired defensive coordinator Tony White and new head coach Matt Rhule. Fields is listed at 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds and played out of Ardmore.

Fields also had offers from Arkansas State, New Mexico State and North Texas. Coach Rhule gained a lot of momentum lately and decided to offer Fields early into his new tenure.

Fields is ranked the No. 98 linebacker in the nation and No. 15 in the state of Oklahoma per 247Sports. Fields has a high level of athleticism, played both ways, and looks to be a great fit for coach White’s defensive scheme.

Fields had 180 total tackles in 10 games and ran a 7.07 in the indoor 60 meters per Huskers247. The level of overall speed of Fields adds a large variability to his game position-wise.

With offenses becoming more difficult to stop, players like Fields are becoming necessary to cover sideline-to-sideline in college football.
