LaPorta got injured this year against Minnesota and suffered a torn meniscus which required arthroscopic surgery. He stated that “I gave this program a lot and it’s given me more than I’ve ever dreamed of” when announcing that he would play in the bowl game despite the injury.
He is an extremely athletic and during his high school career played wide receiver despite being roughly 220 pounds. He’s a critical piece to the Hawkeye’s offense and will be a major factor if Iowa is to win against the Wildcats.
LaPorta had 53 receptions for 601 yards and one touchdown this season.
