Brad Underwood didn’t have much explanation for the Illini’s disappointing loss to Missouri in the annual Braggin’ Rights series.
The Illini entered the series with an 8-3 record, and No. 16 in the country. Missouri entered the contest with a better record at 10-1, but had the advantage of an easier schedule so far this season.
Despite a higher ranking, the Tigers out-played, and out-executed Illinois, handing the Illini a 93-71 loss.
According to Underwood, it wasn’t a lack of practice or preparation that led to the loss. Talking to the media after the game, Underwood said that the Illini had a great practice week, mentioning that he was also excited for the game.
Unfortunately, the great practice didn’t transfer onto the court, as the Illini fell apart in the lopsided defeat.
#illini Brad Underwood: I thought we had a great week of preparation. I was excited. It had very little carryover.
