Rex Burkhead seemed to be in the right place at the right time. Burkhead picked up a fumble for a touchdown in Saturday’s game.

Burkhead attended Nebraska from 2009-2012 and was taken by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 6th round of the 2013 NFL Draft. After a stint with the Bengals Burkhead joined the New England Patriots in 2017. The Texans added Burkhead to their roster in 2021.

Texans’ QB Davis Mills scrambled inside the Tennessee Titans score five-yard line, got hit and fumbled, and Burkhead scooped up the ball for the score. The play was eventually reviewed by officials and confirmed.

Burkhead has had a part in 13 games for Houston this season. Burkhead has been used as more of a receiving back this season, compiling 186 yards receiving and 1 touchdown.

The Texans’ playoff hopes are out the window with a 1-12-1 record, but that won’t stop them from playing the Titans close.
