It was bound to happen at some point. Someone was going to turn Jake Butt’s surname into some sort of joke.

A Denver news station was the first to make a crack at the jokes, listing the former Michigan star with a new unique — and unfortunate — position. Instead of serving as a tight end for the Broncos, apparently he’ll be the team’s “tight butt” moving forward.

The term appeared on KRDO, a Denver news station, when a graphic popped up during one of Butt’s interviews with the press.

Unfortunate mistake? Happy accident? Intentional joke? Nobody really knows except the news station.

Butt had 1,646 receiving yards at Michigan while hauling in 138 receptions. He tore his ACL in the team’s Orange Bowl game against Florida State and hasn’t made an appearance in the NFL yet. He’s currently on the Broncos’ injured reserve list.

As far as we know, the Broncos still have Butt listed as a tight end.
