Steele Chambers, Jim Knowles weigh in on impact of Chip Trayanum’s willingness to switch positions for OSU

Steele Chambers and Jim Knowles might be missing one of their guys on defense. The Ohio State linebacker and defensive coordinator praised the sacrifice of former linebacker-turned-running back Chip Trayanum.

Trayanum began the year playing linebacker for Ohio State. With previous experience at running back at Arizona State and injuries at the position, Trayanum is now back on offense for the Buckeyes. The selfless act could be a major blessing for Ohio State with the recent uncertainty of Miyan Williams and the season-ending foot surgery for TreVeyon Henderson.

Trayanum has rushed for 92 yards on 15 attempts this season. Against Michigan, he carried the ball 14 times for 83 yards (5.9 ypc). With the Sun Devils, Trayanum had 692 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns over 2 seasons.

On Wednesday, Chambers praised Trayanum for being a “team guy” willing to be selfless with the switching back and forth. Knowles also reflected that the defense might have lost Trayanum to the offense for the long term. Knowles also says the defense is always pulling for Trayanum when he’s in with the offense.
