PJ Fleck, Minnesota’s head coach, made the announcement that Tanner Morgan has been cleared to play in the Pinstripe Bowl against Syracuse. The Minnesota quarterback suffered an upper-body injury at the end of the first half against Nebraska.

Athan Kaliakmanis has started for the remaining four weeks of the regular season with a record of 3-1 and potentially may have to play a 5th. Kaliakmanis has recorded 866 yards passing with 3 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

This year, Kaliakmanis was awarded the B1G Freshman of the Week for his performance against Wisconsin and has gained a lot of valuable experience. Kaliakmanis led Minnesota to a 23-16 win against the Badgers and set career highs with 19 completions on 29 attempts, 319 yards, and 2 touchdowns.

Morgan recorded 1,324 yards, 7 touchdowns, 5 interceptions and a 67.3 completion percentage this season. He has played mostly consistently and provided a solid offensive performance throughout this year.

Morgan’s experience is one of his biggest attributes and provides the Gophers with a lot of maturity at the quarterback position.
