There’s really only one problem with P.J. Fleck’s “Row the Boat” motto: it’s the perfect ammunition for opponents to mock Minnesota.

On Saturday, Michigan State registered another road win in sloppy conditions, knocking off the Gophers 30-27 at TCF Bank Stadium. It was a hard fought contest in a really wet and rainy atmosphere.

But that didn’t stop ole Sparty, Michigan State’s beloved mascot, from taking a shot at Minnesota and that “Row the Boat” slogan. On Sunday, Sparty posted this image with the caption “Rowing our way through the Big Ten.”

That’s about as close to the perfect “troll job” as you can get. Well done, Sparty.

Michigan State is rowing through the B1G this season, now at 3-0 in conference play after the win over the Gophers. They’re a half-game out of first place in the division, as Ohio State sits at 4-0. Penn State is also 3-0 in the East.

For Minnesota, the graphic was like rubbing salt into an open wound. The Gophers are now 0-3 in conference play, losing two of those games by a touchdown or less.

It’s a good thing Goldy didn’t see this live. Knowing that he likes to truck through defenders, we could’ve had an ugly mascot battle on our hands in Minneapolis.
