Kevin Wilson is reportedly adding an Ohio State staffer to fill his DC position at Tulsa, per FootballScoop’s John Brice. The news came out on Monday around noon.
Matt Guerrieri will be joining Wilson at Tulsa if the reports are true. Guerrieri was a senior advisor and analyst this past season with the Buckeyes. Guerrieri joined Ohio State in Jan. 2022 after spending 10 years with the Duke Blue Devils staff.
Wilson is taking over for longtime Golden Hurricane HC Phillip Montgomery. Montgomery was fired after a disappointing 5-7 finish to the regular season.
Under Wilson’s guidance, Ohio State’s offense averaged the ninth-most total yards per game in the country this season with 490.7. The Buckeyes also scored the second most points per game in the nation (44.2 ppg).
Wilson coached the Ohio State offense for the final time on New Year’s Eve. The Buckeyes lost 42-41 to Georgia in the Peach Bowl, effectively ending their season.
