A former Illinois running back is on an NFL field.
Tuesday afternoon, the official Twitter account of the Indianapolis Colts announced that Josh Ferguson had been signed to the practice squad. Ferguson, who went undrafted in 2016, had been jostled around by the Colts due to some injuries, spent his entire rookie season in the Hoosier State.

In 2016, Ferguson played in 16 games for the Colts, rushing for 20 yards on 15 carries and tallying 136 receiving yards on 20 catches. He also returned for kickoffs.
Ferguson was at Illinois from 2011-2015, and was one of the most versatile backs in the B1G. He totaled 4,093 yards from scrimmage (2,586 rushing, 1,507 receiving) and accounted for 26 touchdowns. His best season came in 2013 when he rushed for 779 yards and had 535 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.
The Colts initially signed Ferguson as an undrafted free agent in May 2016.
