Nobody needs to tell the Ohio State defense to focus in on Penn State. After stunning Ohio State in Happy Valley last year and stealing the B1G title from the Buckeyes, everyone is well aware of the implications this game could have on the season.
Ohio State is attacking the next two weeks with a completely difference mindset than it had a season ago.
Earlier this week, defensive end Sam Hubbard said that the failure to focus and not respecting the Nittany Lions was something that crushed the Buckeyes last year.
“We were just stunned,” Hubbard said according to 247Sports. “We didn’t respect a really good opponent and took for granted winning.
“That’s one thing last week Coach Meyer was saying. When we’re going to a historically great program like Nebraska or Penn State and you don’t respect them, you don’t prepare like they’re a great team and you can have what happened last year. So that’s the approach we take.”
That approach certainly worked last week as Ohio State slammed Nebraska 56-14 in Lincoln. The Buckeyes will have extra time to prepare for Penn State this year, as they’re currently in a bye week before hosting the Nittany Lions in Columbus next Saturday.
