Wisconsin football officially welcomes trio of assistant coaches to staff for 2023

After a mediocre season that saw Wisconsin go 4-5 in conference play, the Badgers are making changes in Madison.

On Friday, the Badgers announced the hiring of three new coaches, Gino Guidugli, Mike Brown, and Jack Bicknell Jr. The coaches will serve as the passing game and tight ends coach, associate HC and WR coach, and OL coach respectively. All three men are new to Wisconsin, but have a wealth of experience across the football landscape.

Guidugli has spent the last 4 years in Cincinnati, where he has held the position of running backs coach, quarterbacks coach, and offensive coordinator. Guidugli was partially responsible for the development of former Cincinnati QB Desmond Ridder, who was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in 2022 after a prolific career with the Bearcats.

Wisconsin also plucked Brown from Cincinnati, where he has served as wide receivers coach since 2019. As a player at Liberty from 2008-2010, Brown earned All-America honors as both a QB and WR. Brown also spent several seasons in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Of the three new coaches, Bicknell has the most experience, having spent the past 35 years as a football coach. 10 of those years were spent as a head coach, including eight at Louisiana Tech from 1996-2006. Bicknell also spent seven years in the NFL, coaching offensive lines for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dolphins, Chiefs, and Giants.
