It was a rough season for Michigan State, as the Spartans went 5-7 overall, 3-6 in conference play, and failed to become bowl eligible.

Things haven’t been much easier for the Spartans in the offseason, as a Michigan State player pled guilty to misdemeanor charges stemming from a skirmish in the stadium tunnels after the Michigan matchup.

On Friday, the Spartans were handed another blow. The Detroit News’ Matt Charboneau reported that a school spokesman confirmed DE Jeff Pietrowski had entered the transfer portal.

It’s another tough loss for the Spartans, as Pietrowski was a big impact player on the defensive line. Pietrowski played in three games before missing time due to a lower leg injury this season.

In his two years with the team, Pietrowski had 37 career tackles, including seven for loss. This season Pietrowski had 6 total tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss from the games he was healthy in.

Pietrowski has three years of eligibility remaining thanks to medical redshirt from 2022 and COVID waiver from 2020.
