Tom Izzo knows that not all wins are pretty, but a win is a win. The Spartans took down the Michigan Wolverines 59-53 and improved to 11-4 on the season Saturday afternoon.
After toughing one out over his rival, Michigan State’s iconic head coach said the win “was a tough game to officiate, a tough game to coach, a tough game to watch. A beautiful game to win.”

The Spartans were able to hold off a late rush by the Wolverines, thanks in part to big scores from Malik Hall, Tyson Walker and AJ Hoggard. Hall sustained a foot injury before the half, but fought through it to score 15 points for the Spartans. Walker added 13 points points to the pot, while Hoggard put up 15 for Michigan State. Eleven of Hoggard’s 18 points came in the second half.
The Spartans looked to turn their 6-game win streak into 7 as they travel to Madison, Wisconsin to take on Greg Gard’s No. 14 Badgers this coming Tuesday.
