5 college basketball players at Concordia University Chicago were hospitalized New Years eve following an intense workout at practice.

Head coach Steve Kollar, who won Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year in 2021, was temporarily suspended following the incident. Since the incident took place, 4 of the 5 players have been released from the hospital.

The players were reportedly asked to visit the emergency room if they were experiencing symptoms related to rhabdomyolysis, a condition where broken-down muscle fibers leak throughout the body that is caused by physical exertion, often seen in the military.

A reminder, this is a Division III school.
