The 2018 B1G opener has a new scheduled date.

Friday night, Purdue football announced that the 2018 season opener — and the first game of the conference season — between the Boilermakers and Northwestern would be on Thursday, Aug. 30. The contest will be at Ross-Ade Stadium.

No time was announced for the game.

The B1G opener is part of a push from the conference to start scheduling league games earlier in the season. Several teams will start the season off with conference battles in the first week of the season over the next several years.

While the two teams were originally scheduled to play each other Week 1 anyway, the game was moved from Saturday to Thursday, presumably in an effort for the two teams to get prime time exposure.

This season, Ohio State and Indiana opened the season in Bloomington on Thursday night.
