Urban Meyer may have given Saquon Barkley one of the best compliments he’s ever received.
The Penn State running back isn’t used to receiving high praise. Nearly every coach, player and media member in college football has said fantastic things about Barkley each and every week this season. But Meyer might’ve trumped all of that.
During his weekly press conference on Monday, the Ohio State head coach talked about Barkley and the trouble he presents for the Buckeyes defense. Meyer said Barkley is the “best all-purpose guy we’ve faced maybe in my career.”
“He’s as good an all-purpose back we’ve seen, and that’s 30 years,” he continued.

Meyer has made four coaching stops in four different conferences and has played some of the best talent in college football. It’s especially high praise considering Meyer spent six years competing in the SEC while at Florida.
Barkley has been compared to Reggie Bush and is considered as a one-in-a-million type of players. It’s one thing for media to continually give him praise, but for Meyer to say the Lions running back is maybe the best he’s seen is an unbelievable compliment.
Meyer is going to need a terrific game plan to try and slow down the Heisman favorite this Saturday as Penn State travels to Columbus for a clash of top 10 teams.
