Nebraska running back Tre Bryant will undergo season-ending knee surgery on Wednesday, according to head coach Mike Riley.
On Monday, Riley updated the media on Bryant’s status, saying the running back would need surgery to help repair a knee injury suffered earlier this year. The hope is that Bryant will be eligible for a medical redshirt season.
Brian Christopherson of 247Sports was one of many to tweet out the news.
Tre Bryant is done for the year. Having surgery. Riley believes he'd be "a great applicant" for a medical redshirt season.

Bryant played in just two games this season but was incredibly productive in both outings. He rushed for 192 yards in the season opener against Arkansas State and racked up 107 yards the following week against Oregon. He scored two total touchdowns in those games.
Despite playing in just the first two games, Bryant’s 299 rushing yards were good enough for second on the team.
Nebraska and Riley will push the NCAA for a medical redshirt season. Bryant would be a strong candidate for approval, considering he didn’t play in one-third of the Huskers’ games this season.
