Tom Brady wrapped up one of the worst team seasons of his NFL career Monday night, losing to the Dallas Cowboys 31-17 in a home playoff game.

While Brady has a decision to make with either free agency or retirement to come, ESPN’s Marcus Spears believes the legendary quarterback is saying farewell to the game of football. Spears’ analysis comes from Brady’s postgame comments and the way Brady has played all year long.

“I think he’s saying goodbye to football,” said Spears. “You don’t want people to remember this about your career. And I was not saying ‘Tom, go home’ because you can’t throw for 5,000 yards or whatever. This NFL now, it’s much easier to have a lot of passing yards in this league.

“When I watch Tom Brady last night: This is football. Tom does not want to get touched in a football game. It’s not possible for you not to get touched. We saw him dunking and throwing balls in the ground, we saw him throw the interception in the red zone. And guys: this has been all year long.”

While Brady could certainly retire, some of the other Get Up analysts remarked that Brady could simply be fed up with the situation in Tampa Bay and a roster that needs a lot of help to compete. We will see if he decides to make another run at things in 2023 if he is able to land with a competitor.
