Ryan Walters continues to fill out his new staff at Purdue, and he’s reportedly set to hire a former Boilermaker.

Lamar Conard, the running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at Miami (Ohio), will join the Purdue staff, Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports reported. Conard is a former Purdue starting defensive back and has been at Miami (Ohio) the last 5 seasons.

Conard was a defensive back for the Boilermakers from 1996-99. He was the first walk-on at Purdue to be awarded a scholarship under Joe Tiller when he did so in 1997. He was a three-year starter and played in all 37 games during his final 3 seasons. His career totals included 118 tackles (68 solo, 50 assists), 6 pass breakups and 4 interceptions, according to his Miami bio.

Other stops in his career include Illinois State from 2011-17 as running backs coach and recruiting coordinator after he was the defensive backs coach there in 2009-10. He was a graduate assistant at Purdue from 2007-08.
