Daxon is an interior defensive lineman who should help the Illini’s depth up front. Over the past 2 seasons, he’s been credited with 11 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and 1 sack.
He’s listed at 6-foot-2, 318 pounds. He would have been the third-heaviest defensive lineman on the Illini’s roster in 2022.
Daxon is Illinois’ 4th transfer addition of the cycle so far. Bret Bielema and his staff have also received commitments from quarterback Luke Altmyer, tight end Tanner Arkin and safety Nicario Harper. The group ranks No. 45 nationally amongst transfer portal classes, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
Daxon will have 2 years of eligibility remaining.
Illinois will be hoping to make it to a 2nd consecutive bowl game in 2023. The Illini have not reached the postseason in back-to-back campaigns since 2010-11.
