Alex Padilla appeared in 10 games for Iowa over the 2021-22 seasons, mainly as the main backup quarterback to Spencer Petras. After the conclusion of the 2022 season, Padilla hit the transfer portal and is on the move out of Iowa City.
On Friday, Padilla confirmed his next destination. He will be heading to SMU and a program that averaged just over 37 points per game during the 2022 season.

A former 3-star prospect in the 2019 recruiting class out of Colorado, Padilla appeared in just 1 game during the 2020 season while backing up Petras. Padilla would see significant time during the 2021 season but failed to complete 50% of his passes across 8 games played.
For his Hawkeye career, Padilla finishes with 821 yards, 3 touchdowns and 4 interceptions while completing 49% of his passes. Best of luck to him as he moves on to continue his career with the Mustangs.
