Following Michigan’s embarrassing 42-13 loss against Penn State that dropped them out of the Associated Press Top 25 last Saturday, ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum slammed third-year Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh.
Here’s what Finebaum said Sunday morning on SportsCenter about Harbaugh and his 5-2 Michigan squad, who are tied with Rutgers for fourth in the Big Ten East Division:
“He’s overrated. Jim Harbaugh, in the offseason, he’ll go to Normandy, he’ll go to Russia, he’ll go to China, he’ll save world peace by going to North Korea but right now he’s a very average football coach.”
“He sucks all of the oxygen out of the offseason… Jim Harbaugh makes $11 million a year. His team is playing Rutgers. They’re both tied right now for fourth in the Big Ten.”
The Wolverines have finished third in the Big Ten East Division in Harbaugh’s first two seasons. Michigan is 2-2 in conference play this year with a slim chance of making the Big Ten Championship game.
Michigan hosts Rutgers on Saturday with kickoff set for noon ET. These two programs have only faced each other three times with the Wolverines holding a slight 2-1 all-time advantage over Rutgers.
