After missing the last six games due to injury, Wisconsin defensive end Chikwe Obasih will finally return to the field this Saturday against Illinois.

On Thursday, Obasih was removed from the injured list and will eligible to play this weekend as the Badgers hope to improve to 8-0 on the season. Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel confirmed the report.

Obasih, a redshirt senior, suffered a knee injury prior to Wisconsin’s Week 2 match-up against Florida Atlantic. The injury was never expected to be season-ending, but it did keep the defensive end out longer than anticipated.

Coming into the season, Obasih was expected to be one of the key contributed along the defensive line for the Badgers. There’s been no word on how many snaps the senior will see this Saturday in Champaign. Obasih has recorded just one tackle in one game (Utah State) this season.

For his career, Obasih has recorded 85 tackles and four sacks and eight quarterback hurries.

Saturday’s game between Wisconsin and Illinois is scheduled for noon ET and will air on ESPN. The Badgers are currently a 26.5-point favorite.
