Ryan Day met with the media Wednesday as National Signing Day commenced around the country. While the incoming 2023 recruiting class was the main topic, Day also provided some preview comments for spring practices right around the corner.

Day had a list of players unavailable for the Buckeyes during the spring session that included some key pieces from the 2022 season. Tommy Eichenberg, Emeka Egbuka, Julian Fleming and Evan Pryor were some of the notable names from that group.

Egbuka and Fleming finished second and third on the Buckeyes in receiving during the 2022 season with Marvin Harrison Jr. leading the way. Egbuka hit the 1,000-yard receiving mark with 10 touchdowns and will likely be a candidate for Ohio State’s top WR target in 2023.

Eichenberg was a rock for Jim Knowles’ defense. He led the Buckeyes with 120 tackles and 12 TFL and is a veteran presence in the middle of the unit.

As for Pryor, he had 98 rushing yards as a true freshman in 2021 before missing all of 2022 with an injury. He was expected to play a larger role in Ohio State’s backfield in the preseason.

Hopefully, all of these players are good to go in the summer and fall as Ohio State looks to make it back to the College Football Playoff.
