For most of the afternoon, Michigan State’s offense was immobile against Northwestern. But when the Spartans needed a score to stay alive, Brian Lewerke and Felton Davis III came through.

With less than a minute remaining in regulation and Michigan State trailing 17-10, Lewerke fired a pass to the corner of the end zone for his receiver. Davis then made a miraculous catch to tie the game and eventually send the contest to overtime.

That was the second touchdown pass for Lewerke on the day and the first reception in the end zone for Davis.

Coming up with huge offensive plays wasn’t prominent in Saturday’s contest, but both teams came up with crucial scoring plays late in the game.
