Week 9 of the college football provided a lot of craziness. Plus, it also sparked some players Heisman campaigns.
After nine weeks, SI’s Bruce Feldman still has Penn State running back Saquon Barkley as his Heisman leader. However, he has added a new B1G into his Heisman rankings: Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett after a phenomenal performance in a come from behind victory over Penn State. Here is what Feldman has to say on the two B1G stars:
Barkley: “He worked some magic early, torching Ohio State for a touchdown on the opening kick return and then later in the first half breaking off a 36-yard touchdown run, but that was about it for him. The Buckeyes roared back for a one-point win and bottled him up. He ended up with just 44 yards rushing on 21 carries. He’s the best all-around back in the country, but this race tightened after this weekend.”
Barrett: “He was brilliant leading OSU back against Penn State, going 33 of 39 for 328 yards and four TDs. He’s now gone six games without throwing an interception, and his 25–1 TD–INT clip is the best item on his résumé.”
Here is the rest of Feldman’s top-5 Heisman candidates: No. 1 Barkley, No. 2 Stanford back Bryce Love, No. 3 Notre Dame back Josh Adams, No. 4 Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield and No. 5 Barrett.
