Ben Johnson has reached out to Tom Izzo about the tragedy at Michigan State, as the Minnesota game at Michigan State scheduled for Wednesday has been called off.

Johnson said on his radio show on Tuesday that he just wanted to check in with Izzo to make sure he knew they were thinking about him. And they wished them nothing but the best. Johnson said about the campus shooting last night: “You don’t think about the game (Wednesday). You don’t think about the travel or next day’s practice. Your thoughts and prayers go to that community.

“We obviously would love to get it in, and I know they would love to get it in,” Johnson said. “It’s kind of up to the scheduling gods. … You’re literally just looking for an open window.”

While both schools and Big Ten will try to be flexible, Minnesota already has to play a makeup game Feb. 20 at Illinois from a game that was called off Feb. 7 because of COVID issues.
