Terrence Shannon remains in concussion protocol, per Illinois coach Brad Underwood.

The Illini head coach met with reporters Sunday following Saturday’s close loss to No. 14 Indiana. Despite the 71-68 loss, Underwood was pleased with how other Illini players stepped up in the absence of the team’s top scorer. Matthew Meyer led the way with 24 points. Jayden Epps (12 points) and Dain Dainja (11 points) also reached double figures.

Heading into Saturday’s B1G showdown, Shannon had appeared in all 25 games for the Illini, averaging 17 points while shooting 43.7% from the field and 32.3% from 3-point range. In addition to being the team’s leading scorer, Shannon is also second on the squad with 3 assists per game.

The Illini’s upcoming schedule includes Monday against Minnesota, Thursday at home against Northwestern and a Sunday road trip to Ohio State. We’ll see when Shannon is able to return to action as the regular-season wraps up.
