The 2023 NFL Draft contains a number of intriguing storylines at the top of the draft, including a big decision for the Chicago Bears with the No. 1 overall pick.

Some of the options facing the Bears include trading Justin Fields for a package of assets and drafting a quarterback, standing pat to select the best defensive player in the draft, or trading out of the spot to stockpile more picks. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Chicago is getting closer to a decision.

Schefter reported early Monday morning that the bears are “leaning toward” moving the No. 1 pick in the draft. Chicago GM Ryan Poles has spoken highly of Fields’ status as QB for the Bears, so it looks like Chicago is more likely to trade the pick and try to build around Fields in 2023.

Should the Bears move out of the top pick, they are likely expected to take the best defensive player available. Bryce Young out of Alabama would currently be the likely pick for any team moving up to the top spot.
