Michigan freshman cornerback Ambry Thomas will be jumping over to the offensive side of the ball, being used likely as a running back on jet sweeps.
Offensive line coach Greg Frey discussed the potential switch to offense recently with Thomas.
“I’m a playmaker,” Thomas said Tuesday night after practice. “I like the ball in my hands. I believe I will help this team no matter where I’m at on the field.”
Thomas usually returns kicks for the Wolverines, totaling seven kickoff returns for 176 yards this season.
When does Thomas expect to make his debut on offense?
“I ain’t saying nothing,” Thomas said, with a smirk. “We’re working on something. I don’t know what it is, we’re working on something.”
Michigan is 6-2 this season and faces Minnesota at home on Saturday with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. EST.
