Devin McCourty has been a steady contributor for the New England Patriots since joining the franchise via the 2010 NFL Draft out of Rutgers. On Friday, he made it official, announcing he will join brother Jason McCourty in retirement.

“I think that is a fact I will only always look good in a Pats uniform but I will no longer look good in a Pats uniform moving forward,” Devin announced in a video alongside Jason. “I am officially retiring from the NFL. It has been a great ride… Unbelievable ride, man, and I think it’s always tough to come to the end as you know. This whole offseason has been so much back-and-forth for me mentally…

“I’m excited about what’s to come. I never thought I’d be able to retire from the NFL and be excited about having another job, but everything you’ve done has shown me that’s possible so I’m excited to follow in your footsteps. ”

Strong career numbers for McCourty

As a player, McCourty never appeared in less than 14 games in a season from 2010-19 and recorded 3 appearances on the second-team All-Pro. He was also a part of 3 Super Bowl titles for New England in the decade.
