Penn State head coach Micah Shrewsberry has emerged as the leading candidate for the Georgetown job following the firing of Patrick Ewing this past week.

Shrewsberry, who has been at Penn State for just 2 seasons, has elevated the Nittany Lions to a chance to crack the NCAA Tournament field in Year 2, something Penn State has not previously done since 2011.

Prior to being Penn State’s head coach, Shrewsberry was an assistant at Butler during their back-to-back title runs, also making stops at Purdue as an assistant. Shrewsberry also served on the Boston Celtics staff from 2013-2019.

The Nittany Lions are currently sitting at 21-12 on the season, having advanced to the B1G tournament semifinals with a pair of wins over Illinois and Northwestern.

The Nittany Lions look to continue their strong run in the B1G Tournament Saturday against Indiana.
