Zeke Elliott could soon be looking for a new NFL team.

On Wednesday morning, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport shared that the Cowboys are “likely” to move on from their franchise running back after he spent the past 7 years with the team.

Rapoport said Elliott is expected to meet with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones “soon.” Here’s Rapoport’s full analysis on the situation:

Elliott has played his entire career with the Cowboys up to this point. He was the No. 4 overall pick out of Ohio State in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Elliott has had a very successful career in Dallas, but he’s begun splitting time in the backfield with Tony Pollard. With Elliott set to make $10 million next season, the Cowboys are likely to look for other areas on the roster where they could invest that money.

In his career so far, Elliott has rushed for 8,262 yards and 68 touchdowns. He’s also caught 305 passes for 2,336 yards and 12 more scores. He made 3 Pro Bowls with the Cowboys as well.

If this is the end for Elliott in Dallas, he will depart the franchise as its 3rd all-time leading rusher behind Emmitt Smith and Tony Dorsett.
