RJ Young is in the process of previewing some key storylines in the country entering spring practices. Recently, Young tackled the topic of the top 5 quarterback rooms in the country entering the 2023 season.

At the top of Young’s list is Lincoln Riley’s USC Trojans. That is unsurprising with the return of Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams and the addition of 5-star QB Malachi Nelson in the 2023 recruiting class.

Right behind USC, Young included Ryan Day’s Ohio State squad, particularly noting Kyle McCord and Devin Brown in the offseason QB battle of the Buckeyes. Despite those two being a bit inexperienced, Young likes that QB room and the corresponding players to work with in Columbus.

“I’ve already said Kyle McCord to Marvin Harrison Jr., that is the thing for me. It’s also that Devin Brown is behind (McCord),” explained Young. “I think they’re in a really great spot. I think if it’s about getting back to Michigan undefeated, they’re going to be able to do that. It’s whether or not they can win that game because we thought it was an aberration in 2021. Michigan said ‘No no no, it’s our conference now… and you’re going to have to take it back from us.'”
