Purdue to hire SEC offensive line coach, per report

An SEC offensive line coach will be making the transition to the B1G, and Purdue will be the beneficiary. Chris Hummer of 247Sports reported that Purdue is expected to hire Marcus Johnson as its offensive line coach. Johnson will be taking over for Matt Mattox, who just joined the Boilermaker program in January.
Johnson played college ball at Ole Miss and was named All-SEC in his time at Mississippi. After college, Johnson was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Johnson spent 3 years with the Vikings, before he bounced around to the Oakland Raiders, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Hartford Colonials of the United Football League.

As a coach, Johnson spent time with Mississippi State and Duke before he joined the Missouri Tigers in 2020.
In 2021, Johnson was promoted to assistant head coach and run game coordinator. He’ll join a revamped offensive crew at Purdue under the helm of new head coach Ryan Walters, who was hired in December after previous head coach Jeff Brohm left for the head coaching gig at Louisville.
