An injury sustained by Wisconsin wide receiver Quintez Cephus during Saturday’s game against Indiana is feared to be serious and potentially season-ending, according to reports.
Cephus was injured when an offensive lineman inadvertently rolled into the back of the receiver’s legs. He was seen standing on crutches on the sideline later in the game, according to Jeff Potrykus of the Journal-Sentinel. While there was no update on the injury or its severity, it is thought to be of serious nature.
There is concern that the injury could result in Cephus missing the remainder of the regular season.
In nine games this year, Cephus has caught 30 passes for 501 yards and six touchdowns, leading the Badgers in all three categories.
Wisconsin, which sits at a perfect 9-0, is heading into the toughest stretch of its season, finishing the year with Iowa, Michigan and Minnesota before a trip to the B1G Championship game in Indianapolis. The Badgers haven’t officially guaranteed their spot at Lucas Oil Stadium yet, but they’d have to lose the remaining three games to be pushed out of the top spot.
Still, losing Cephus is a significant blow for the Badgers’ offense, particularly in the passing attack. More information will come out over the next few days, but it doesn’t sound good for the Wisconsin receiver.
