The video of James Franklin sprinting off the field, yelling at his players who tried to escape Spartan Stadium without shaking the hands of Michigan State players after a 27-24 loss has gone viral.
He’s received plenty of praise for his effort to implement a culture of class and pride, and it was perfectly demonstrated with that action on Saturday afternoon. Following the game, Franklin met with the media and talked about why he ran after his players who nearly got to the locker room with congratulating Michigan State on a victory.
“Don’t misinterpret, at the end of the game, that I was running off the field. I would never do that,” Franklin said. “I saw a few of our players running off the field and not going to shake hands. We are going to win with class and we are going to lose with class.
“We are going to shake people’s hands and give them credit, because they deserved it.”
