Caitlin Clark and Iowa are preparing to play in the Final Four in Dallas later this week.
On Tuesday morning, the star guard went on ESPN’s First Take to talk about her season and the Hawkeyes’ expectations ahead of their matchup with No. 1 South Carolina on Friday.
“It still hasn’t sunk in that we’re really here in Dallas,” Clark said. “But this is everything we’ve worked for. We’ve had a lot of ups and downs through my 3 years here and to be able to have the same starting 5 for 3 years is pretty special too.”
Clark is coming off one of the most impressive games in NCAA Tournament history. She scored 41 points and added 10 rebounds and 12 assists to help knock off Louisville in the Elite Eight.
On the season, Clark is averaging 27.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 8.6 assists per contest. She’s also shooting 47.4% from the floor and 39.2% from 3-point land.
Still, Iowa is expected to be the underdog on Friday when it takes on undefeated South Carolina. Clark told ESPN that Iowa is taking a “business-like approach” as it looks for 2 wins in Dallas.
“We’re in Dallas but we’re not here to just have fun,” Clark said. “We’re going to take a business-like approach and we want to win 2 games and bring a National Championship back to Iowa City.
“So that’s certainly our goal and we’re going to soak up every single second that we get to be here because, you know, it’s so hard to get to this point but we’re also here to win and I think that’s the most important thing.”
Iowa and South Carolina will tipoff at 9:00 p.m. ET on Friday night.
