Luke Fickell spoke at the third day of Wisconsin’s spring practice. Fickell opened by explaining how the players are handling things so far.
One area that Fickell highlighted on from the start was the mental and emotional toughness of players. Fickell noted that it is very important for players to control their emotions throughout spring camp. Friday was the first day that players were allowed to use shoulder pads.
Fickell stated that the mental and emotional toughness of players is a big deal.
Day 3. As some would say, you put on the shoulder pads, but it’s not much of a difference to the guys up front. For us to not lose our emotions and control, I thought they did a really good job. We’re challenging them in a lot of ways, but their emotional and mental toughness is a big deal. The competitive nature of what we’re doing is hopefully what you got to see today.
Fickell joined Wisconsin after coaching at Cincinatti. One of the highlights of his tenure with the Bearcats was reaching the College Football Playoff against Alabama.
Badger fans will be hoping that Fickell can put them back on top of the B1G. Tradition will keep you posted on more updates out of spring practice.
