The quarterback injuries continue to pile up for Maryland.

During his weekly press conference, Terrapins head coach D.J. Durkin provided an update on a few injuries headed into this week’s matchup against Michigan. And what Durkin revealed was potentially more bad news.

Max Bortenschlager — formerly the third-string quarterback — will be a game-time decision on Saturday. If he can’t go this weekend, the Terrapins will turn to walk-on Ryan Brand, which would be the fourth starter this season.

Bortenschlager was pushed into the starting position after season ending injuries to Tyrrell Pigrome and Kasim Hill earlier in the season. Brand has played in just three games this season, completing 8-of-12 passes.

Bortenschlager has played in all nine games this season, making six starts. He’s thrown for over 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns while completing passes at a 51 percent clip.

For a team that’s already been plagued by injuries this season, losing another quarterback would be a devastating blow for the final stretch of the year.
