Maryland assistant head coach Grant Billmeier reportedly accepted the head basketball coach position at NJIT Wednesday, ending just a 1 year stint in College Park.
But Billmeier and Maryland head coach Kevin Williard are no strangers. Billmeier was on Williard’s staff at Seton Hall for 11 seasons, following him to Maryland when he left the Pirates for the job in 2022.

And Billmeier has ties to New Jersey, being a native of Pennington, just about 25 miles away from NJIT.
The former Seton Hall standout will have his work cut out for him as well. The Highlanders have never been to the NCAA Tournament and finished last season with just 7 wins. NJIT’s last winning season was in 2019.
