Three players from the B1G have been named as finalists for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award. The list had been narrowed down from 30 candidates down to 10 on Wednesday.
Ohio State’s J.T. Barrett and Billy Price, as well as Iowa’s Josey Jewell, were the three players named as finalists for the prestigious award. The B1G and the SEC were the only conferences to have more than one representative.
According the website, the Senior CLASS Award, which is an acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. The candidates must have notable achievements in community, classroom, character and competition.
Fans can vote on the candidates through Dec. 4 and a winner will be announced in early January.
Barrett, Price and Jewell are widely considered to be some of the best players at their respective positions in college football this season, so it’s fitting that those three are up for the award.
