Iowa linebacker Josey Jewell was named one of nine semifinalists for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, it was announced Thursday. Jewell and the other eight players represent the qualities embodied by Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, which the award is named after — Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

Jewell, who was a mid-season All-American, is 4th in the nation with 11.3 tackles per game. He has also recorded 9 ½ tackles for loss , 2 ½ sacks, interception, forced fumble, 5 passes broken up. Jewell had 128 tackles as a sophomore and came back with 124 last year.

Three finalists for that award will be named for the award on Monday, Dec. 11, with the winner being announced at the award ceremony on Feb. 22, 2018, at The Star in Frisco, Texas.
