In a slightly surprising move, Minnesota beat out Wisconsin for a commitment from 4-star safety Koi Perich Wednesday. Should he sign, Perich will be a top-15 highest rated recruit in Minnesota football history and their highest rated since Daniel Faalele in 2018.

The Esko, Minnesota native chose the Golden Gophers over Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Illinois and many others. He made his commitment via Twitter Wednesday morning.

Perich is considered to be the No. 28 safety in the nation and the No. 2 prospect out of Minnesota according to 247Sports. He is currently not ranked by the 247Sports composite.

As of now, he is the top talent of Minnesota’s 2024 recruiting class, joining high 3-star IOL Riley Sunram.
