Nebraska hit the field Saturday for its annual spring game with a special visitor in attendance for the festivities.

Frank Solich — a former player, assistant and head coach for the Huskers — is back in Memorial Stadium. He will be honored at halftime of the spring game, but Nebraska also started things off in a special way for Solich.

The first play call of the afternoon was a fullback trap, an obvious nod to Solich’s playing days as a fullback for the Huskers. After the play, new head coach Matt Rhule was seen presenting the ball from the play to Solich.

In addition to the first play of the game, Nebraska has painted the 45-yard lines inside Memorial Stadium in honor of Solich. He wore the No. 45 during his playing days in the 1960s.
