There wasn’t much offense in the first half between Purdue and Northwestern, but what little we did get was pretty spectacular.

It wasn’t hard to have the most memorable play through the first two quarters, as neither team was really able to move the football. But Wildcats receiver Bennett Skowronek made up for the lack of offense with an incredible touchdown grab in the back of the end zone.

Quarterback Clayton Thorson fired a pass to Skowronek, who had a defender draped all over him in the end zone. But that didn’t seem to affect the receiver too much, as he went up high to make the catch and was able to tap the toe just inside the white line for the score.

Skowronek came into the game as Northwestern’s leading receiver, catching 32 passes for 427 yards and three touchdowns. For Thorson, this was his 11th touchdown pass of the year.

The score gave the Wildcats a 14-0 lead over Purdue heading into halftime.
